Wood burning fireplaces and stoves
The smell, the sound, the feel of real wood
A wood burning fireplace or wood stove provides exceptional heat. There is nothing like sitting by the hearth watching the flames of a wood burning fire dance while you feel the warmth, enjoy the smell, and listen to the crackling logs in your fireplace or wood burning stove. And, using a wood burning fireplace or stove can be a very cost-effective way to heat your home with a renewable and locally sourced fuel.
Fuel from nature
Wood is a renewable energy source. Living in Montana, it can be a locally sourced, very cost efficient way to provide heat for your home. Contemporary wood burning stoves burn substantially less wood, up to ⅓ less than traditional wood stoves and are also designed to reduce indoor and outdoor smoke pollution, including carbon dioxide, and particle pollution.
Reliable heat in inclement weather
Burning wood can heat your home whether the electricity is on or not. Montana can throw us curve balls with winter storms bringing many feet of snow at a time which can cause power outages and dangerous roads. If you have a supplemental heat source that is wood burning, you can keep your family safe and warm until power is restored.
Note on wood burning appliances or fireplaces
Burning wood requires regular ash removal and chimney cleaning, as well as regular inspection and maintenance of any stove combustor. For our preferred chimney sweep partners please visit our resources page.
